On a warm and pleasant evening in the Miami Design District on Tuesday evening, Swiss watchmaker Vacheron Constantin unveiled its new flagship store: a massive two-story boutique that is currently the brand’s largest store in the Americas. Guests enter through a soaring atrium flooded with natural light, with a terrazzo floor engraved with a compass rose pattern that pays homage to the brand’s Overseas collection. “You can definitely feel the spirit of Miami,” said Alexander Schmiedt, the brand’s U.S. president, pointing to the verdant courtyards and lush gardens surrounded by palm trees.

Kelly moved through the crowd with ease, his presence drawing a steady stream of attention. This curiosity started early. “My parents bought me a really nice Seiko watch before I went to college, when I was 18,” he recalls. “I don’t even remember what model it was, but it was nice.” A few years later, when he was 22, he bought a 1987 Omega Speedmaster from Japan on eBay, complete with its original box and instructions, which truly sparked his passion for watches. “I bought it for $800,” he excitedly revealed.
