Americans reportedly set a new record for butter consumption in 2024. Butter molds and sculptures have become popular edible decorations for dinner parties and events. Butter yellow maintains its place among fashion and home decor color trends. People want buttery skin. On top of that, runners are now carrying heavy cream and salt to make butter on their runs, a new trend called “churn and burn.” In other words, it’s time to write a book about butter.
Cookbook author Anna Stockwell answers the sweet cream call. this Bon appetit and greedy Alumni’s new book, butter booka celebration of dairy stars. Part historical deep dive, part recipe book, and part decorative piece, the book was designed by Lizzie Vaughn to look like a stick of butter and comes with a cloudy wax paper slipcase. As someone who has ever considered donning a metallic gold costume and dressing up as Kerry King Butter for Halloween, I’d say butter is more of a timeless staple than a trend.
When I asked her what she liked about butter, the question felt ridiculous. Butter makes everything better. What is not to love?

“My friends and family have done a lot of butter experiments over the past few years,” Stockwell said Fashion Laughed.
