The Spring Gala is indeed in full swing again. One of the most anticipated events returned to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Tuesday night, as YoungArts took over the institution’s annual charity event, raising more than $1 million to advance the careers of artists across all disciplines.
The evening’s reception was held in the museum’s soaring lobby, where guests listened to pianist Sam Towse. The “Creative Cocktail Party” dress code allows attendees to play with colors and silhouettes, from your friends and neighbors Star Mark Tallman’s polo shirt and long shorts were paired with a vibrant button-down dress by Christopher John Rogers at Jamie Singer Soros.
Attendees began with gourmet tuna rice, macaroni and cheese cubes and champagne during the celebration, which is designed to provide lifelong support for the organization’s recipients, starting in high school and college. They were praised by Misty Copeland, the evening’s honorary chair and a former Young Arts Arison Award winner. “This organization is very aligned with everything I stand for and the values I hold,” she told Fashion. “Their support has been so meaningful and they understand the importance of having guidance and guidance on your journey as an artist.”
At sunset, the crowds walked into the impressive Temple of Dendur for dinner. Illuminated by candlelight and elegant white flowers, the space hosted several performances from YoungArts alumni, including a musician playing a 16th-century violin on loan from the museum’s own archives.
For YoungArts Board Chair Sarah Arison, who joined the organization in the footsteps of her late grandmother, YoungArts co-founder Marilyn Arison, the magic is “seeing the scope of the discipline and how intergenerational it is.” she told Fashion“You’ll see the winners from a year ago and the winners from 15 years ago on the stage at the same time. So you really get a sense of what the core of YoungArts is.”
