As I was picking out my outfit for the day, I asked myself one question: WWJD? That is: What would Jennifer do?
While Jennifer Lawrence is always one of the biggest attractions on the red carpet, the actor’s street style is where she shines most. Over the past few years, Lawrence has gone from a well-dressed city slicker to a true adventurer without overhauling her wardrobe. Her bold off-duty choices made her an exciting dresser – she influenced the way I thought about clothing.
Like Lawrence, I prefer the basics: white T-shirt, baggy jeans, pull-on pants, slim-fitting Adidas sneakers, and ballet flats. But sometimes I feel uninspired and my staples get stuck. However, after years of paying close attention to Lawrence’s street style, I’ve learned a few tricks and made meaningful changes to my style without having to buy anything new.
Here are three fashion lessons I learned from Jennifer Lawrence in 2025.
1. Layering
Last summer, Lawrence tried out a trendy layering technique on multiple occasions, likely taking a page from The Row’s Spring 2025 lookbook. She paired it with a lace-trimmed off-white mini slip dress underneath an oversized T-shirt, layered over colorful pants and a maxi skirt. While she may not be able to wear this slip on its own, it breaks up the visual appeal of the outfit with a pop of lace. I incorporated this trick into my own wardrobe, wearing a layered lace tank top under a sweater and over pants to add a touch of whimsy to an otherwise simple look.

2. Improve basic knowledge
Black and white may be considered basic or even boring, but Lawrence reminds us that what an outfit lacks in color, it can make up for in other areas. Take, for example, the oversized white T-shirt and sculptural black miniskirt Lii wore to promote the film in November die my love. Her accessories were a plus: plenty of anklets and toe rings added a touch of fun. I took a cue from her and paired my white tee with an architectural Entire Studios maxi skirt for the same effect.

3. Lighten up a bit!
Fashion can be felt so Sometimes it’s serious. Lawrence has reminded us many times this year that a little levity goes a long way. take a fool breaking Dawn She pairs a baseball cap with an ultra-cool Kallmeyer jacket or a quirky Dior bag with simple jeans and a T-shirt. I like to wear a Dogue baseball cap for a little bit of goofiness.
