What will Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s offspring look like when they grow up? Rza (3 years old), Riot (2 years old) and Rocki Irish (7 months), already certified fashion killers, put the world of fashion and music at their fingertips. They have proven that they also have artistic talent.
Rihanna’s latest tattoos were courtesy of her children – according to celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang (real name Keith McCurdy), the new tattoo was “designed by her children.” On May 8, the artist shared a series of videos documenting the new work and the tattoo process. Just days ago, Rih and Rocky appeared at the Met Gala, where Rihanna opted for a twirling Margiela gown and “living sculpture” hair. Well, art in all its forms must be on Rih’s mind.
The body art is graffiti in purple, red, yellow, green and blue – quite abstract expressionistic. In a video shared on Bang Bang’s Instagram, you can see the artist working on the original artwork – a piece of paper with a Paw Patrol sticker on it, which Rihanna apparently decided not to put on her body to keep it simple. Rih had ink done on the back of her left thigh.
“The torture I endured in this store,” she said in a video.
“Make sure my butt looks good in the main shot,” she said in another photo, wearing large wraparound sunglasses and a hoodie covering her face.
This isn’t the first time Rih has turned to Bang Bang for needlework. He’s responsible for at least nine things, including a shark on her ankle in 2016 (which she later covered up with a crown) and a “rebellious flower” around her neck. Her most prominent and well-known are the star tattoos on her neck and back, also designed by Bang Bang.
The pop star and beauty mogul has around 25 known tattoos on her body, some of which have intimate personal meanings, pay homage to others, and have a touch of fun and humor. They range from small designs like musical notes and pistols to the wingspan on the chest of the Egyptian goddess Isis, in honor of her grandmother Dolly. Others have faded over time, like “Thug Life” written on her knuckles and “Hush” on her fingers.
