The 2026 Met Gala has officially kicked off, and we’re waiting with bated breath as the world’s brightest stars—including co-chairs Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams—gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This year’s exhibition “The Art of Costume” puts fashion and fine art on the same pedestal. From May 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027, the museum’s new, nearly 12,000-square-foot Condé M. Nast Gallery will feature hundreds of clothing-centered artworks paired with thematically relevant fashions. In keeping with the theme, the dress code for the evening was “Fashion is Art,” asking attendees to serve as a blank canvas themselves.
While the dress code itself leaves plenty to the imagination, the various subsections of the exhibition certainly provide some guidance. Many may embrace the classical body in Hellenistic drapery, while others may choose to explore the anatomical body. We can imagine that with the ongoing cultural fascination with nude attire, many guests will get creative in paying homage to nudity.
In addition to the evening’s co-chairs, a host of celebrities will be walking the carpet in the most artful fashion, including host committee co-chairs Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz, as well as Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Alex Consani, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, A’ja Wilson and Yseult.
