My skiing ability can be summed up in three words: A is for effort. Growing up in California on the Pacific coast, more than 500 miles from a decent resort, I didn’t put on a pair of ski boots until I was in my thirties. When I first skied, even though I was hesitant to take up a new sport with a higher injury rate, I at least dressed appropriately. Wearing the matching ski jacket and pants, I miraculously tackled the slopes with confidence. Graduating from bunny hill to green then blue in a matter of hours. Despite a few subsequent falls, the clothes that day made the man, if you will.
