Madonna, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce have a love story that spans 40 years and unfolds in fashion shows and transcontinental tours. How did you come to capture this kind of imagery? In a perfume bottle, of course.
“Domenico and Stefano are like brothers to me. We have a long history together,” Madonna shared Fashion Exclusively some exciting news: She is now the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s The One fragrance. “I remember I had just given birth to Lola; [and] When I first put on their clothes: my waist was strangled and my breasts were exposed. I feel confident. “
For Madonna, their work celebrates the sensuality, confidence and fearlessness that characterize her life. While the singer has appeared in several D&G fashion moments, including an entire fashion season featuring her image, this is the first time the trio has collaborated on fragrance.

“The three of us are drawn to the idea of pushing boundaries and challenging social norms,” she continues. This style has been reflected in countless collaborations over the decades, including pop culture-defining photo shoots with Steven Klein and subsequent tours where the brand designed clothes.
Despite the longevity of the relationship, the embers of first love still flickered for Gabbana: “When I saw her, I was in butterflies in my stomach!” he says. What does this history, romance and connection mean? smell Like, you might ask?
It makes perfect sense, then, for Dolce and Gabbana that the one and only Madonna would become the face of their fragrance, The One: a rich amber and floral fragrance that joins the D&G line of fragrances. (The house knows exactly how to make instantly recognizable and emotive fragrances, redesigning and relaunching it last year in a warm, Mediterranean-inspired light blue.)
“Working on this campaign felt like a natural extension of our personal and professional relationship,” Madonna added.
Gabbana recalls his first fashion show, in 1984, when he was 20 years old and Madonna was only a distant reference. She went on tour with her in Italy blond ambitionDolce and Gabbana hopped in the car to see her perform in Turin. This time she is wearing That Jean Paul Gaultier tapered bra.
“I said to Domenico: ‘Do you think one day this girl will wear something we design?'” Gabana recalls. A few months later, he saw her on the front page of a newspaper partying in Paris wearing a jersey skirt and a mesh D&G shirt: “I collapsed“. Since then, they’ve been getting closer: Madonna appeared in a D&G gown Sleeping with Madonna Documentary premieres, they designed more than 1,500 costumes for her and her dancers in 1993 girl show travel. “People came to know Dolce & Gabbana because of Madonna,” he shared.
