Today, Kate Middleton turns 44, and the Princess of Wales broke with tradition by posting a video instead of the traditional portrait that usually marks the occasion. The fourth and final installment in Nature, a series of short films Princess has shared over the past year, explores the relationship between seasonal changes and mental health, with the latest clip reflecting on winter and the healing power of nature.
In the video, set to a brooding piano soundtrack, she wanders through the woods in a snowy landscape, dipping her hands in a stream and bathing in the blue glow of nightfall, while wearing a Barbour x Alexa Chung green jacket, Penelope Chilvers long fringed boots and a Katherine Hooker cashmere paisley scarf. The video was filmed in Berkshire, Cumbria, Gloucestershire, East Sussex and the Cotswolds, the BBC reported.
“Even in the coldest, darkest season, winter brings us peace, patience and quiet reflection,” the princess says in voiceover. “There, the stream slows down enough for us to see our own reflections and discover the innermost parts of ourselves, the whispers and pulses of every living thing.”
