It’s a look we’re seeing a lot of right now—especially among the street stylists and off-duty models hanging out at New York Fashion Week, who can often be seen wearing block-heeled boots and straight-leg jeans, iPhone in hand. Recent runway shows are also celebrating ’90s minimalism (which makes sense love storySarah Pidgeon, who plays Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, attended Khaite’s Fall/Winter 2026 show, all cigarette silhouettes and low-heeled boots).

Although I am more of a zero-heeled girl, FashionFashion writer Olivia Allen often wears straight-leg pants and block heels to work—usually paired with some sort of simple cashmere sweater. “I have so many jeans that every morning I pick out a pair of the same pair,” she said. “However, I’m also concerned about a) falling into the trap of copying a Bruce Springsteen tribute act, and b) being allergic to sneakers. The walkable heels help me avoid both of those issues, while also addressing any height-based insecurities. Nothing boosts serotonin levels like strutting down the street in a pair of boots (plus sunglasses and wired headphones).”
As winter turns into spring, I find myself believing more and more in this infallible ’90s combo. I’ve always wanted to have my own uniform – why not have one signed by Cindy Crawford herself?
