Following the screening, Women’s Stories alums Haley Gates and Celia Roulson-Hall joined Fastvold for a panel discussion about the making of the film—from developing the “muppet” at its center to shaping the musical landscape of the film. Gates explained: “This series often gives directors an opportunity to explore things they haven’t explored yet.” Mona added: “It’s a really lovely thing to do and Miu Miu has built a really lovely community here, so I have to say thank you.”
From there, guests were transported to the ultra-luxurious Meatpacking District members’ club Chez Margaux, where the night came to a climax. While any cell phone photos are off-limits, photos of indulgence certainly are not. Pumpkin ravioli and mini cheeseburgers were passed around as guests curled up on the velvet banquettes.
in a corner, love story Co-stars Grace Gummer and Sarah Pidgeon compare notes on the film’s most touching moments, while Derek Blasberg and Nina Dobrev trade jokes nearby. Some guests, including Seyfried, even took off their shoes and completely relaxed. The atmosphere is cheerful and a bit unfinished, completely Miu Miu style.
“Mona is the perfect choice for Miu Miu Tales,” says Seyfried, “because we all talk about fashion, but how does that connect to our humanity? How does that connect to the way we live our lives? You have to create a story around it, and that’s really hard to do—so you have to find real storytellers who aren’t afraid to say things that might not make sense at first.”
Discussing her own Miu Miu moment, Fastvold enthuses: “I’ve been very lucky to have a long-standing relationship with Miu Miu and Mrs. Prada. She’s always been a great support to me and I really love her creative ideas and thoughts on everything she does. It’s an honor to be a part of it.”
Pidgeon summed it up best when she said, “I hope this happens more than twice a year. To be able to sit in a room full of powerful women — we need more of that!”
