Despite the 20-year gap, the film has become so ingrained in pop culture that a three-word phrase (“Spring flowers…”) can bring people back to “The Runway” — even as hundreds or even thousands of smartphone-wielding fans and long-lensed paparazzi gather on Sixth Avenue to watch their scenes.
But then comes the camera test.
“I heard on the radio: ‘Miranda Priestley is walking,'” Hathaway said. Many of the original cast and crew have returned –Very Delightfully so – including Blunt and Stanley Tucci as the suave, sage Nigel Kipling. “Everyone who had the ability to come back for the second movie did, so we started off with such a deep understanding and appreciation of the last 20 years and how this movie has evolved,” Hathaway said. “A new guy in our cast described it as a ‘gay Christmas.'”
