The A$AP Rocky Guide to Acing Your Vogue Internship

A$AP Rocky is a man of many talents: Grammy-nominated musician, fashion designer and actor. But as a Fashion intern?

after–Ahem— Day one got off to a rocky start, with Rocky admitting, “For a while, I thought this job was going to make me better.” But he changed his tune after our esteemed colleague got some advice from Anna Wintour (“Deep a little deeper, Rocky”). “I see,” he said.

So, what would it look like to dig deeper into A$AP Rocky? “I mean for me?” he said. “These are just a few simple rules that I follow every day that make me an extraordinary director, musician, fashionista, extraordinary, beautiful, handsome mother -” Well, you know the rest.

Behold, A$AP Rocky’s Five Simple Rules for Becoming Number One Fashion intern.

1. Stay organized

With plenty of free time, Rocky has mastered spreadsheets. If you can simplify your cluttered Excel worksheet, cold coffee is totally forgivable. But late? We’re not so sure.

2. Connect with colleagues

Consider having tea with colleagues every week. Rocky learns from his new colleague Leah, “So how’s your grandma Edna doing?” Hot tip: Remember, not all grandmas are named Edna.

3. Get inspired

Sometimes, inspiration can be just around the corner. “Show A$AP,” Rocky said, showing a photo of herself at the Chanel Métiers d’art show on the screen. “This guy is a typical example Fashion“. Our talent bookers and visual editors seem to agree. “Genius,” commented Global Casting Director Ignacio Murillo.

4. Pay attention to details

When the fashion team agonized over two pairs of shoes, Rocky quickly made a decisive decision. His keen eye was admired by editors and A very special guest.

5. No job is too small to be done with care

Food always tastes better when it’s prepared with care—even if that means prepackaged snacks at a craft service. For his part, Rocky’s dedication caught the attention of photographers on set. Sure, the model left, but Rocky was an established star.
