Dhaka – EC said 305 candidates withdrew their candidature.
The EC Secretariat released the latest figures after completing nomination submissions, reviews, appeals, withdrawals and finalizing the list of competing candidates.
The deadline to withdraw candidacy ended yesterday. The Electoral Commission will start distributing election symbols today, while campaigning will begin on January 22.
Of the 639 people who appealed the election officials’ decisions, 431 regained their candidacy after hearings.
Previously, 2,585 nomination papers had been submitted to the Election Committee for the 13th National Election.
