Bomb threat targets South Korean president’s aide and office

by The Tamesis

December 24, 2025

Seoul – There has been another anonymous bomb threat recently, this time targeting President Lee Jae-myung’s office, official residence and his long-time aide Kim Hyun-ji.

Police said the Yongin-dong Police Station received online posts around 7 p.m. on Monday that explosives had been planted at the presidential office in Yongsan, Lee’s residence in the same district, and the new Cheong Wa Dae site designated as the future presidential office.

The post said the bomb was set to detonate at 6pm on Tuesday.

The author also made murder threats against Lee Myung-bak’s personal secretary, Kim.

Police are looking for those behind the post, which has now been deleted.

The incident is the latest in a series of cyber threats targeting state institutions or public facilities, none of which turned out to be real.

The Defense Ministry reported a bomb threat on Sunday, and Kakao, the country’s largest information platform operator, received several similar threats last week.
