Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi to move into official residence by year-end

by The Tamesis

December 23, 2025

Tokyo – Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi announced in a post on X on Sunday that she will move into the Prime Minister’s official residence at the end of this year.

Currently, she lives in the House of Representatives House of Commons dormitory in Akasaka Ward, Tokyo.

“Even during the end of the year and the New Year, I never lose focus,” Gao Yi said. “Crisis management is the foundation of statecraft.”

The public dormitory is about 400 meters away from the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Prime Minister needs to commute to get off work. After moving into the Prime Minister’s official residence adjacent to the Prime Minister’s Office, she was within walking distance.
