The Thoughtful Fashion Details Behind Kate Middleton’s Most Emotional Engagement to Date

Of all the events Kate Middleton will undertake during her royal career, today’s event is arguably one of the most challenging. This afternoon, the Princess of Wales visited The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Greater Manchester – one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, caring for over 60,000 patients each year – to meet staff and patients currently undergoing chemotherapy, including those receiving treatment on its adolescent ward.

The princess understands this experience better than most. Not long ago, she revealed that she was undergoing a series of preventive chemotherapy after abdominal surgery planned for January 2024, before the cancer was discovered. “This has of course been a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to deal with and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said in a video posted in March 2024, shortly after King Charles III was also diagnosed.

The following September, she shared the news that she had completed chemotherapy. “The past nine months have been very difficult for our family,” she said in another touching video, which showed her enjoying the outdoors with Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. She added, “Life as you know it can change in an instant.”
