Sea Resort 2027 Collection | Vogue

For two decades, Monica Paolini and Sean Monahan have been seasoned sailors in the sea of fashion. For the resort, they took the boat to Newburgh, New York, which is where their resort lookbook was filmed. “Being inspired by maritime workers and growing up in a riverside town in the northern Hudson Valley, we decided to actually shoot in our hometown,” Paolini explains. “Instead of going to a foreign country, we decided to go back to our roots because today is our 20th anniversary,” she added. “Take everything home.”

Their vacation trawl includes clothing with nautical and fishing elements, romantic and lacy lingerie looks, and fancy tuxedo outfits. Or, as Paolini puts it, “I thought of a combination of elegance and practicality…a practical yet romantic everyday garment.”

Some garments feature a new label, “Sea NY & Supply,” a nod to the vintage sporting goods the designer referenced. A cheerful daffodil yellow raincoat is as practical as a camouflage overalls, windbreaker and cargo skirt set. Prints on scarves feature fish, and fishing rod baskets redesigned for landlubbers have tulle-wrapped handles. Paolini said there was a belted apron and another leather apron that looked smart and were popular on set. This season’s one-off dresses look like a polo worn with a blouse and skirt.

When lace and pearls appear, Prep turns to precious. Paolini believes in bloomers and culottes. She also loves colors like emerald and amethyst. “It feels fresh,” she said.
