In another universe, Dolce & Gabbana is a travel agency dedicated to spotlighting and promoting the best of Italy. As the 10th annual Mytheresa x Dolce & Gabbana stops in “boots”, it’s time to welcome friends of both brands to Sardinia’s Costa Smerelda to test out a new capsule collection inspired by Porto Cervo.
Upon arrival at the legendary Cala di Volpe hotel, the influence of the local environment is immediately apparent on the collection’s tones and silhouettes. Porto Cervo’s history dates back to the early 1960s, when the Aga Khan began developing the unspoilt Gallura coastline in homage to the authentic village pictured on postcards. Today, the place still has a vintage yet elegant jet-set feel, which provides the perfect backdrop for printed silk robes, corsets and bloomers, and crop tops paired with A-line skirts. The hotel’s peach and pink exterior, which overlooks the turquoise sea, was also clearly reflected on the mood board.
Nearly 100 people, ranging from Dolce & Gabbana show regulars to Mytheresa’s top clients, gathered at the atrium bar for sunset cocktails before heading to the poolside lawn for al fresco dinner. “This table looks just like Carrie Bradshaw’s Dolce dress,” one attentive guest quipped, referring to the seminal ’90s floral bodysuit that was reassigned to Heidi Klum for celebrity fashion shows because Bradshaw was too petite. Although not quite That Judging from the print, the dining table and chairs have indeed been dressed up to match the capsule collection. Mytheresa’s chief merchandising officer, Tiffany Hsu, got in on the action, debuting a floor-length silk chiffon top paired with matching pants; Dolce’s designs were said to be inspired by her personal style.
Guests included models Kim Turnbull and Rebecca Donaldson, actress Zinnia Kumar and TikTok star Katerina “Kate” Mossi, AppetizersBuffalo Stracia Terrace local Sardinian pasta and sea bream with caponata as Italian opera played from nearby speakers. Alfonso Dolce even flew in to offer a toast – a great opportunity, he said, to visit one of his personal favorite places in Italy. “This is Italian style in real life, and this is the Dolce Vita lifestyle in real life,” the CEO said with a smile as he looked around the team.
