After lengthy standing ovations, red carpet extravaganzas and endless debates over the merits of each film in competition, it’s finally time for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival Awards.
Entering the show’s closing ceremony, Andrey Zvyagintsev’s minotaurChristian Mongiu fjord, and Paweł Pawlikowski motherland Looks to be one of the leading contenders for the coveted Palme d’Or. Meanwhile, for the acting awards, Léa Seydoux and others (unknown and gentle monster), Virginie Efila (Parallel story and all of a sudden), Sandra Wheeler (motherland), Adam Driver (paper tiger), Rami Malek (the man i love) and Javier Bardem (beloved one) appears to have taken the shot. There are also some other movies, especially Luo Hong Town hopeas well as those of Javier Ambrosi and Javier Calvo black ball— which caused enough buzz to probably deserve one of the smaller awards at Cannes. But it still has something to play for, given the inherent unpredictability of the festival jury system.
