Manila – Supporters of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte issued calls of opposition in front of the Senate compound on Tuesday afternoon.
This comes after the Senate on Monday granted protective custody to Duterte ally Sen. Bato Dela Rosa.
Outside a 1,200-strong police barricade at the Senate gate, Marcos supporters called for the senator’s arrest after the International Criminal Court (ICC) confirmed an arrest warrant for dela Rosa.
They also called for the vice president’s impeachment.
Some banners read: “SARA LITISIN” and “No one is above the law BATO ARESTUHIN”.
On the other side of the police line, Duterte supporters expressed support for dela Rosa and Duterte.
Duterte supporters also began mocking Marcos supporters, calling them “bangag,” “bayaran” and other insults.
In response, some Marcos supporters asked them to leave, while others raised their middle fingers.
In the 2022 election, Marcos-Duterte teamed up to form a “unity team” and promised to achieve the unification of the Philippines. /mcm
