Bodice, Bodice, Bodice! At the 2026 Met Gala, Molded Busts Ruled the Night

The 2026 Met Gala red carpet has officially come to an end, and a “trend” has emerged.

The dress code for the evening was “fashion is art” and many guests understandably adopted paintings depicting the body (often in the form of trompe l’oeil) as their attire. However, there is a subset that goes a step further and transforms their silhouettes into sculptural works of art.

The Kardashian-Jenners are the perfect example. Sisters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner wore nude bustiers by Schiaparelli and GapStudio respectively, each with sculpted breastplates with prosthetic nipples. Fashion Staff aptly pointed out on the live blog that both are reminiscent of Kim Kardashian’s Skims bra, featuring the same visible pattern.

Kim K herself is enjoying it too. The Skims mogul stepped out in a custom look created by Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem in collaboration with creative director Nadia Lee Cohen. “I’ve seen his work cited so many times by people in the fashion industry and I’ve always been a big admirer of his work,” Kardashian said. Fashion Jones before the night. After contacting the artist, she found the original mold from the 1960s.

But they’re not the only ones. From Hailey Bieber’s archival style Claude Lalanne x Saint Laurent to Heidi Klum’s full-body camouflage, see some of the night’s best corsets below.
