When Coleman Domingo hosts a party, he takes his role seriously. When guests arrived at the actor’s pre-Met Gala party at the Fenner Hotel in West Chelsea on Saturday night, they were greeted by the man of the moment himself, who pulled them onto the dance floor with hugs and twirls.
Inviting attendees to “Put That Sh*t On!”—a shorthand instruction for minimalist attire—Domingo opted for a feathered jacket and matching halterneck; a handcrafted confection by Mexico City designer Patricio Campillo. “It took us 20 days (six days a week) to individually sew the rooster feathers,” Campillo said Fashion. “We need it to be perfect.”
Upon arrival, guests’ phone cameras were affixed with gold stickers featuring the party’s signature “Xo Colman,” allowing partygoers to sway and shiver to their heart’s content. Favorite cocktail of the night? The Catwalk was a custom creation provided by the evening’s partner, Don Julio Tequila. “Tonight we are here to celebrate art in all its forms and all of the people here who can change the world through art,” Domingo told the crowd during a toast. “I want you all to meet a new friend tonight because through this community and the connections you have with each other, you have the power to change the world.”
