A Saturday Night Shimmy at Colman Domingo’s Pre-Met Gala Party

When Coleman Domingo hosts a party, he takes his role seriously. When guests arrived at the actor’s pre-Met Gala party at the Fenner Hotel in West Chelsea on Saturday night, they were greeted by the man of the moment himself, who pulled them onto the dance floor with hugs and twirls.

Inviting attendees to “Put That Sh*t On!”—a shorthand instruction for minimalist attire—Domingo opted for a feathered jacket and matching halterneck; a handcrafted confection by Mexico City designer Patricio Campillo. “It took us 20 days (six days a week) to individually sew the rooster feathers,” Campillo said Fashion. “We need it to be perfect.”
