Diane Keaton died in October at the age of 79. A collection of the great Diane Keaton’s clothing, books, homewares and film memorabilia are set to go up for auction in a few months, with four landmark sales taking place at Bonhams in May and June this year.
“Diane Keaton was not only a collector but a consummate editor,” Anna Hicks, Bonhams’ head of private and iconic collections in the United States, said in a statement Diane Keaton: Iconic Architecture Monday morning. “Each piece—whether art, fashion, decoration, or personal objects—was selected by her with extraordinary precision and clarity, reflecting her innate instinct for composition, restraint, and meaning.”
To emphasize the breadth and depth of the collection – which includes scripts and other production materials baby boom (1987), father of the bride (1991), and godfather trilogy; clothing by Ralph Lauren, Thom Browne, Comme des Garçons, Bottega Veneta, Prada, Marni, and Gucci (not to mention some of Keaton’s famous hats); and art by Robert Rauschenberg, Ed Ruscha, and more red man and something has to give Co-starring Jack Nicholson – The auction will be preceded by exhibitions in New York and Los Angeles.
