Cambodian King to remain in China for treatment of prostate cancer – Asia News Network

Phnom Penh – His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni will stay in Beijing for another one to two months to receive further treatment for prostate cancer.

“After the most detailed and careful examination by the medical team of the Beijing National Hospital of the People’s Republic of China, it has been confirmed that I currently have prostate cancer. In accordance with the instructions of the medical team, I request permission to continue to stay in China.” [in China] At the moment I am not able to return to my homeland,” the king said in a royal message on April 10.

“The medical team asked me to stay in the hospital for treatment according to their prescription and maintain my health for another one to two months,” he added.

According to the Cambodian constitution, Senate President Hun Sen will continue to act as head of state while the king is abroad.

On the occasion of the Khmer New Year, King and Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk also extended their best wishes and prayers to all Cambodian people.
