The latest news about Hannah Montana’s 20th anniversary special will delight millennials who grew up loving Miley Cyrus as a blonde pop star with a secret. Cyrus kept spirits high as she channeled her beloved character on the red carpet in a series of colorful, sequined and rhinestone-encrusted looks, even returning to Hannah Montana’s signature blonde hair and bangs.
Cyrus took a night off from her cosplay last night at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards. The pop star and actress ditched the glitter in favor of a lapel-collared, button-down Hermès fur coat, paired with matching cigarette trousers. She also wore pointed black heels and anklets, as well as Marli rings, bracelets and earrings, as well as her own engagement ring. Cyrus stuck to a hay-toned, chest-length blonde and kept it glamorously grungy with a gray smoky eye.
The pop star accepted the Innovator Award, which has previously been awarded to Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. (Swift also made a surprise appearance, earning nine nominations that night.) “Celebrating the 20th anniversary of ‘Hannah Montana’ this week is a dream come true. I thank you for my double denim and gold scarf because they’ve been waiting over a decade to leave the house,” Cyrus began her speech.
“Hannah Montana has been a huge inspiration to me in my own career,” Cyrus continued. “I fell in love with the idea that you can create a character that gives you the confidence and courage to be authentic, and sometimes who you pretend to be can actually reveal who you really are.”
Cyrus’s outfit was a complete departure from her look at the Hannah Montana special premiere in Los Angeles. She appeared with fiancé Maxx Morando, wearing a graphic T-shirt paired with a plunging Rabanne silver chain-link gown that fully embodied the 2000s aesthetic. Featuring a different print, the T-shirt that appeared on the runway was custom-made and featured old promotional images of the pop star.
