It’s been a great week for nostalgia: Hannah Montana is back in our lives, the beloved Disney character that Miley Cyrus gave us for four seasons in the late 2000s. Cyrus is officially back as Hannah (and the iconic blonde wig) Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Specialnow available to stream on Disney+. The special’s Los Angeles premiere last night also featured a red carpet ceremony, where Cyrus, of course, appeared in full character.
However, the star’s outfit was less form-fitting and more campy chic in her signature Hannah Montana style. When you think of this character, you probably think of a glam, millennial aesthetic (the more color and glitter, the better). So to pay homage, Cyrus wore a silver chainmail dress from Rabanne’s Spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection, swapping the T-shirts on the runway for a custom graphic T-shirt bearing her own face. A bit high fashion, a bit gimmicky and self-referential—her look is simply the best of both worlds.

Of course, you can see Cyrus taking an edgier approach to Hannah Montana fashion in the new Disney+ special. For example, in the official poster we see her wearing Alexander McQueen clothing in the show, as well as other statement outfits from the special.
The star hit the red (and not purple) carpet last night with her mom, Tish, shortly before giving a brief speech before the screening at the El Capitan Theater. On stage, Cyrus reflected on the now-iconic role that made her famous. “Everything in my life has been so amazing because Disney gave me a chance,” Cyrus said. “There was no reason for me to come to L.A. thinking I could host a show or pretend to be a pop star. I had no experience.” Two decades later, her 2026 Hannah Montana style still hits home. Can fans look forward to a full reboot of the series? We’re not holding our breath about this: Cyrus said she’s “tired. It’s been a lot.”
