Nothing defines a face more than eyebrows. Arched eyebrows can elongate your face. Feathered brows open up the eye area. So what if you want to get a lift without surgery or injections? This is where you might want to try out the brow shape that every “It” girl is currently wearing: the flat brow.

What is flat eyebrow?
Flat or straight brows are shaped in straight lines rather than the traditional arch. Although its roots (Get it?) Based on K-Beauty practices designed to soften the face, it is currently used to give you more lift. “Currently, beauty trends are focused on ‘grabbing’ lifting looks, inspired by popular Korean anti-aging treatments like Botox and laser lifts,” says celebrity makeup artist Andrew Park. “Brow flats are a simple, non-invasive way to give brows more dimension.”
Celebrity brow artist and founder of KS&CO Kristie Streicher likens the effect of flat brows on the face to cat eyeliner. “Straight brows give a cosmopolitan, cool look,” says Streicher. Renowned brow artist and Chanel ambassador Jimena Garcia adds that straight brows give people a “sexier, more emotional quality.” In contrast to arched brows, “a calm gaze draws you in.”
Anyone can have eyebrows smoothed, although some face shapes may benefit more than others. Straight brows may shorten the visual line of a long face, so consider how it balances the natural structure of your face, says Garcia. “Anyone can have straight eyebrows as long as it’s intentional,” she says.
Strecher adds that you can also try straightening your brows without erasing your natural arch. “It’s about softening the curves rather than forcing the shape,” she says. “If well thought out, straight brows can feel sexy and modern while still looking like you.”

How to Get Flat Eyebrows
If you want to try this trend yourself, Streicher recommends not removing any hair to create the shape. Instead, use a razor or dermaplaning device to trim some important hair (“cutting the hair won’t affect its ability to regrow (but plucking it may, which gives you more options,” she says)). Trim a few hairs at the top of your brow arch, just below the front of your brow, so your brow doesn’t curve downward, and use a tool like the KS&CO Micro Feather Pencil to extend your brow outward rather than upward to keep the shape lifted.
