Tokyo-based editor and creative Kazumi Asamura Hayashi appointed new head of editorial content Fashion Japan, effective January 29. Soichiro Fujiwara will join the company in March 2026, following his current role as Managing Director of Condé Nast Japan, marking a new phase in the organization’s leadership in the market.
“Kazumi is a bold, intuitive editor whose vision is shaped by her previous experience in culture and the arts. She truly understands how fashion intersects with identity, creativity, and the world at large. Hayashi served as the ID Japan, where she launched in 2016, has shaped the game’s image across print, digital and social platforms. In 2020, she expanded this vision regionally, launching ID Asia, a digital platform focusing on contemporary Asian culture.
Early in her career, she served as free dunesJapan’s leading independent fashion culture magazine, and co-founded The Last Gallery, a platform dedicated to contemporary art.
In her new role, Hayashi will report to Leslie Sun, Fashion Editorial Director and Head of Editorial Content, Asia Pacific, Fashion Taiwan. “Kazumi has a keen intuition for the zeitgeist and a rare ability to translate creative ideas into clear editorial direction.
