For a woman who can vividly remember the skinny jean style of the ’90s, what’s an age-appropriate way to bring those silhouettes back into her wardrobe? According to Tove’s Camille Perry and Holly Wright, it’s a pair of skinny black wool trousers that flare out just below the ankle to hug you snugly, paired with the brand’s structured double-breasted blazer.
Over the past six years, the pair have attracted a cult following of stylish Londoners, most of whom remember the 1990s, for combining sympathetic tailoring with subtle exposure of skin. For example, the ruched waist—a lifesaver for anyone going through motherhood—is a signature of the brand. These elements were also present in the collection, which included strapless gowns, ruffled tops, and even sheer dresses.
Perry and Wright have decided to forgo fashion shows this season and instead focus on their global business, specifically the U.S. and Middle East markets. The fall collection is a continuation of their September show – still minimalist, based on warm tones, but sexier and fresher.
The slit belt we saw back in September is back, only this time in a silk pencil skirt that stops just above the knee. The same goes for backless buttons, on a cashmere sweater rather than a silk shirt. The most eye-catching shade was golden egg yolk, which replaced backless gowns, short wool sweaters and hammered silk skirts. When the collection hits stores next fall, many customers will be buying those long, thin black bell-bottom pants.
