This Trending Wedding Guest Shoe Is a Clear Nod to the ’90s

The ’90s have been back for several seasons. In the realm of wedding guest attire, this manifests itself in lingerie dresses, velvet fabrics, column silhouettes and babydoll styles. When it comes to shoes, we predict one design will play a starring role in spring 2026 weddings, and it’ll tap into millennial nostalgia.

We usually associate high heels from that era with fashionable and classic pumps. For the upcoming season, however, we are betting on two-tone shoes: specifically those with a toe that contrasts with the rest of the design, creating a simple, elegant and detail-oriented look.

In 1992, Chanel’s spring collection made the cap-toe pump a true icon, with Linda Evangelista opening the show with a sophisticated pair in black and white that continues to appear on and off the catwalk decades later. At this year’s fashion shows, we saw this trend again not only in the brand now led by Matthieu Blazy, but also in other designers such as Saint Laurent or Valentino, who also launched shoes that embraced the two-tone trend.

As for how to combine this shoe with a guest look appropriate for your upcoming ceremony, there are two easy ways. Try aligning the main color of your outfit with the main color of your shoes, creating a contrast through the toe box (and your accessories), or go completely the other way and coordinate the toe box with your outfit.

The best part? These aren’t your typical wedding shoes; some gold or beige style that you wear once and then hide in the back of your closet forever. It can be worn with a variety of items and is suitable for all kinds of everyday activities: with skirts or dresses, tailored trousers or even jeans. As this season’s street style proves, this is an incredibly versatile shoe.
