The next impeachment vote against South Korean President Yoon will be held on Saturday

by The Tamesis

December 9, 2024

Seoul – Rep. Lee Jae-myeong, leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea, said on Sunday that the next impeachment vote against President Yoon Seok-yeol will take place on Saturday.

The main opposition accuses Yun of launching a rebellion over Tuesday night's surprise declaration of martial law. They called the law “an attempt to paralyze the functions of Parliament.”

Democrats have previously said they plan to introduce an impeachment motion and vote on it every Saturday until the House passes it.

The first and previous impeachment motion against Yoon was called off on Saturday after failing to reach the quorum of 200 votes in the 300-member parliament.
