Gird your loins! Excitement levels are at an all-time high The Devil Wears Prada 2is the sequel to the hit 2006 film starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep.
Earlier this morning, the two stars hit the red carpet in Tokyo for the film’s first Asian premiere, and of course, they attended the event in their best fashion. After all, this is a high-fashion movie: The stakes are high, so Streep wore a Chanel gown by Matthieu Blazy, while Hathaway donned a strapless ruffled gown from Valentino’s Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection (complete with Rockstud pumps). “I know there’s attention on it,” said stylist Erin Walsh, who dressed Hathaway for her global press tour. “But I feel like I’ve been training my whole life to do this. There’s always pressure: this is what we do and what we love.”
Walsh and Hathaway’s fashion collaboration dates back to 2019, so the two are bound to bring another epic wardrobe to the whirlwind DWP2 travel. It helps that the stylist also has a personal connection to the film: When the first The queen wears prada Debuting in 2006, Walsh was in Fashion “It was like watching a documentary, like watching a documentary,” said Walsh. “All the assistants in the office were talking about it — and so were all the bosses.”
Fast forward ten years later, and now Walsh was tasked with creating another set of memorable sequel looks for Hathaway that were chic, bold, and undeniably modern. “It was a fun exercise – the opportunity to bring Andy’s character to every level [Sachs] Working with Anne and playing with all the different designers,” said Walsh, who also dressed Hathaway in Valentino for her Oscar skit. FashionAnna Wintour. “Backstage at the Oscars, Annie and Anna were rehearsing their lines, and I was like,”is this true? ‘”
Walsh and Hathaway’s press conference first kicked off last week in Mexico City, where the star wore two unique looks. The first is a black fringed Schiaparelli dress with a sculptural gold belt. “At Frida Kahlo’s house, we wanted to honor the idea that fashion is art,” says Walsh. “This feels really important. I love the idea of starting with black.” It’s a timely sentiment considering the theme of the upcoming Met Gala.
Hathaway then wore a red sequined Stella McCartney dress, which she paired with leather thigh-high boots — a nod, of course, to the Chanel leather boots her character Andy wore in the first film. “I wanted to pay homage to the first film and Pat Field’s approach to the costumes – it was a great example of telling a story in fashion and really not being afraid to go to magical and unexpected places with it,” says Walsh. “But we also wanted to see how Anne’s character had evolved 20 years later. Taking things to a new place and time through color, scale and texture.”
