The world has gone crazy for lip liner this year, and by 2026, we’ll be trying new ways to use them. Enter Katie Jane Hughes, makeup artist, founder of the eponymous KJH brand and the woman behind some of Dua Lipa, Lily Allen and Hailey Bieber’s most eye-catching looks, who’s taught countless beauty fans a thing or two about makeup (head on over to her TikTok if you haven’t already). Her prediction for next year? “Crisp, firm lips are out, while soft, velvety, fuzzy lips are in.”
Think of it as a “halo” lip. Hughes first encountered this look early in her career while assisting with a photo shoot. Instead of keeping the bold red lip defined, the makeup artist used a brush to soften and blur the edges. “It seemed super easy,” Hughes recalled. “I just thought, oh, that’s cool.” Now, she praises fellow makeup artist Nina Park for getting her look perfect time and time again.
