Awards season continued with aplomb last night: the 2026 NAACP Image Awards took place in Los Angeles, honoring this year’s best Black performers and artists in film, television, music and literature. The 57th annual awards ceremony was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, once again hosted by Deon Cole, and attended by Halle Bailey, Regé-Jean Page, Chase Infiniti, Miles Caton, Regina Hall, Ryan Coogler, Sterling K. Brown and others. The ceremony’s theme is “We See You,” celebrating “Black creativity, excellence and humanity in every space where our stories are told.”
Ryan Coogler’s sinner Sweeping the night – heading into the ceremony with 18 nominations and taking home 13 awards, including Best Picture, Michael B. Jordan for Best Actor and Miles Caton for Breakthrough Performance. Some of the night’s biggest honors also included the President’s Award being presented to the iconic Viola Davis and Coleman Domingo receiving the President’s Award. The ceremony also inducted Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.
Others at the top include evil: doing goodCynthia Erivo wins Best Actress in a Motion Picture 9-1-1Angela Bassett won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama and Sterling K. Brown won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama Heaven Best Actor in a Drama. A$AP Rocky was honored with the Fashion Vanguard Award at the NAACP Image Awards reception and fashion show on Friday, while sinnerCostume designer Ruth E. Carter won the award for Best Costume Design.
The show was every bit as exciting as we’ve come to expect from the NAACP Image Awards: Wunmi Mosaku in cream pink and fuchsia Christian Siriano, Teyana Taylor in a sculptural Ashi Studio couture gown, and Colman Domingo in an impeccable three-mustard Sergio Hudson coat with a turtleneck. There was also Chase Infiniti, who wore pink feathers and fuchsia gloves by Tamara Ralph, while Halle Bailey wore a figure-hugging crew-neck couture dress by Stephanie Rolland.
