The Best Everyday Sneakers, According to Vogue Editors

Whether you’re walking down Broadway to run weekend errands, hiking through the Adirondacks, or preparing for your next marathon, sneakers are a mainstay of the modern wardrobe. Designed to accommodate busy schedules, long days, and whatever your calendar throws at you, they’ve become a true must-have. Sneakers are a celebrity-approved must-have, and they’re also top of mind for editors as we prepare for New York Fashion Week—after all, we’ll be running around town.

For those looking to invest, fashion-forward options from Loewe, Dries Van Noten and Louis Vuitton bring runway credibility to everyday wear. On the more playful end of the spectrum, adidas, Nike and Puma offer a range of colorful styles that inject personality into even the simplest of looks. Sneakers are an easy way to add visual interest—just look at Onitsuka Tiger’s silver Mexican 66, a favorite of several of our editors, which are eye-catching and perfect for spring.

Speaking of spring, the Spring 2026 shows made one thing clear: sneakers are here to stay. One standout trend that our editors couldn’t ignore is the rise of slim-fitting sneaker silhouettes. Streamlined looks from Prada, Dries Van Noten and Fendi feel modern and versatile – now’s the time to be on trend. The aforementioned brands, as well as some traditional sneaker brands, already have serious competitors on the market, including Adidas’ laceless kickboxing style, which offers a particularly chic way to exaggerate the silhouette.

Below, shop our editors’ favorite sneakers—tested, on-trend, and designed for walking.

Chloe Malle, Head of Editorial Content

“I’m dreaming of Dries! I never had the guts to buy these but I love them so much! Similar shape but very different, I love these Nike Pacifics for everything from arcade to happy hour.”

Libby Page, executive director of shopping

“The Stan Smith is the definition of timeless style. Some may say it is no longer adidas’ best-selling style like the Tokyo & Samba, but for me, I still reach for the Stan Smith when I need a classic, chic, sophisticated pair of sneakers to go to work. Forever etched in my mind is the image of Phoebe Philo wearing a gray sweater, gray pants, and a Stan bow at one of her Celine shows. Smith – chic.”

Daisy Shaw-Ellis, Director of Jewelry

“I like clean, classic sneakers. While I love wearing Adidas Sambas and SL72s, the Vans Premium Authentic is my favorite. A little bit preppy, but with a nod to skateboarding culture – it’s the perfect combination in my opinion.”

Maddy Fass, Fashion Marketing Director, Shopping

“I’ve never felt that sneakers looked as good on me as real clothes, so I’ve always been a fan of the understated retro looks that are trending right now. They have a slimmer silhouette and wear more like ballet flats than sneakers. I bought a pair of white Marni sneakers from The Real Real a long time ago and they are my go-to white sneakers. I’m so excited to see the new ones that the brand launched late last year. My other favorite pair are my original Loewe ballet flats – Fashion Fashion editor Max Ortega inspired the purchase. They don’t make the exact same style anymore, but this is version 2.0! “

Talia Abbas, Shopping Director

“I strongly recommend against wearing sneakers with jeans unless they are super thin and low-profile. I have a pair of all-white Dries sneakers that I bought in Antwerp a few years ago, but my most worn ones are Nike x Jacquemus Moons. I recently took them with me on a trip to Paris and wear them almost every day.”

Mai Morsch, fashion editor

“I’m having a hard time with sneakers! Every time I try to make a stylish sneaker work, I end up not feeling like myself. Maybe one day I’ll find a fancier sneaker that I like, but right now my go-to is a more technical option: the all-black Salomon Whisper Sneakers. I wear them to the gym, on short hikes, or running errands around the city on the weekends.”

Hannah Jackson, fashion writer

“I’m totally obsessed with my Adidas Japan shoes (so obsessed that I own two colors of them) and have my whole family loving them. They’re stylish, soft, and comfortable with no breaking in. If you like a low-key look but don’t like weird sneakers, this is the shoe for you.”

Ciarra Lorren Zatorski, fashion editor

“Back to fashion magazine Earlier, the idea that sneakers could elevate any look would never have made it past the editors—but here we are, celebrating a classic silhouette that can seamlessly take you from desk to dinner. Recent fashion shows have inspired a desire for Vuitton sneakers! “

Irene Kim, Production and Editorial Assistant

“I’m a sneakerhead. Own every pair of Wales Bonner x Adidas sneakers because they are the best shoes ever. Not only are they super comfortable, but the colors and fabrics are great. My favorite pair is a sequin and alligator style that I bought two years ago. Tory Burch also makes a great pair of sneakers that not only feel comfortable but look great. My favorite colorway is brown suede. The only downside is that I wear them too much. Flats wear out so quickly!”

“I’m not a sneakerhead, but my New Balance 574s have been in my wardrobe for years and are still my most relied upon travel shoe. My navy All-Stars are my second exception—I wear them in the summer with poplin dresses and skirts.”

Kiana Murden, beauty editor, shopping

“In my opinion, sneakers should be kept low-key. I experimented with chunkier, sportier styles, but ultimately found Onitsuka Tiger’s Mexico 66, which combines the comfort and sportiness of a tennis shoe with the style of a flat. With this silver pair, I’m ready to add more neutrals into the mix. The Jacquemus sneakers in chocolate brown suede are irresistible.”

Minty Mellon, Shopping Market Editor

“My favorite sneakers are the Adidas kickboxing shoes. The laceless design eliminates all unnecessary hassle, while the flat sole keeps the silhouette clean and streamlined. Lightweight and easy to pack, they’ve earned a permanent spot in my wardrobe and carry-on!”

Andrea Zendejas, Shopping Market Editor

“My favorite sneakers are no longer available, but I found two worthy alternatives. The Cos navy sneakers are the best alternative to the Khaite x Adidas Country OG collab I’ve seen, and they have the same clean, retro style. The Nike Air Max 90 Futura is still my go-to over the weekend. The colorway I have (a white, grey, black combo) is sold out, but there are still options.”

“It’s only recently that I’ve noticed that I’m obsessed with sneakers that look like little soccer cleats (pardon me, soccer cleats!). First off, there’s nothing better than the arch support of the Onitsuka Tiger, even though they don’t look orthopedic at all – I totally understand why Uma Thurman chose these shoes in Kill Bill. Likewise, the Puma x Fenty collaboration – both sneakers are incredibly fit and comfortable, without sacrificing any detail. Cool.”
