As a nominee for Best New Artist and As a performer at the 2026 Grammy Awards, Sombr had no shortage of moments that drove me crazy on Sunday night. “I’m so honored to be nominated in the same category as all these incredible artists that I admire and respect,” the singer said Fashion. “When I was a kid, I watched the Grammys with my mom and dad, but I honestly never thought in a million years that I would be nominated for a Grammy and be on that stage.”
As a newcomer to the music industry, Sombr quickly accumulated a huge fan base with his debut in 2025. I barely knew her. The native New Yorker, who wrote much of the album in his Lower East Side bedroom, admits he’s still adjusting to all the attention. “I had no time to think at all,” Sombr said. “I’m grateful for the response to this album and I’m so grateful to my fans for sticking with me throughout this crazy year.”
Happily, his stylist, Brandon Tan, went to great lengths to make Sombr look like a modern rock star. “Throughout the whole process I kept some key words in mind [for the Grammys,]” said Tan, who created two unique looks for the star. “Provocative, confident and rebellious are some of them. “
On the Grammys red carpet, Sombr wore a custom look by Valentino—an intentional choice given the recent death of the brand’s legendary founder, Valentino Garavani. “For me, wearing a custom design by Alessandro Michele just weeks after Valentino Garavani’s untimely death seemed meaningful,” said Sombr. Silver suit paired with sheer embroidered lace blouse. “We worked closely with the Valentino team and despite having a full fashion show days before the Grammys, they were very collaborative throughout the entire process,” Tan said. “We exchanged references, sketches and suggestions before settling on the look. There were some changes.”
