At the 2026 Oscars, the looks from the Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection, launched in January, took a star turn. Some make a seamless transition from runway to red carpet (see Anne Hathaway, Kerry Condon, Kristen Wiig, Odessa A’zion). In other cases, designers have further developed the ideas and techniques they used on the catwalk to create new pieces (see Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson, among others). Like filmmakers, couturiers are storytellers, and it’s interesting to see how they can turn “plot lines” in different directions.

Although Miyako Bellizzi wore Christian Dior’s 1999 John Galliano look, and Damson Idris’ Prada look seemed inspired by the brand’s acclaimed 2012 Villains collection, the craze for retro deep cuts appears to be slowing down.
