Frank Lloyd Wright’s so-called “Round Sun House,” the last design completed by the famous architect before his death in 1959, is on the market for $8.8 million. It looks stylish and futuristic, with perfect rhythm and flow. The scene is set on a hilltop in Phoenix, offering stunning views of Palm Canyon and the sun-drenched city below.
The Realty ONE Group listing shows the house was designed shortly before the opening of Wright’s iconic Guggenheim Museum building in New York in 1959. It was renovated in 1995 and four new air conditioners were installed in 2019 (a nice move in Arizona’s muggy conditions). Plus, according to the listing: “Furniture included!”
The Circular Sun House is already available for short-term visits, and the Airbnb listing currently offers a two-night stay (minimum stay) for $5,695. Reviews are very positive. “Haunting, spectacular, ethereal, illuminating, inspiring,” it reads. Another: “What a wonderful time to spend in a truly unique place. The views are equally incredible day and night, and the house feels unlike any other we’ve lived in.” And another: “It’s as if the dialogue with the surrounding nature has been spatialized.”
Here are some highlights from the Realty ONE Group sales listing, which states that Circular Sun House is available for “self-directed IRAs and/or fractional ownership to create an investment opportunity in this rare property.”
