“To me, gems and embellishments on nails are like adding jewelry to a manicure,” says Novakovic, and the best part is, pulling off this trend is easier than it looks. All you need is the right materials (primer, polish of your choice, top coat, gemstones, and UV light) to get started.
“I think it would be really fun to scatter the gems: one close to the cuticle, one at the end of the nail, and add a cluster of two or three gems on one of the nails,” Novakovic notes. To really make your stones last, she says, make sure you encapsulate them in a drop of gel or polish and then apply a coat or two of your favorite top coat.
Don’t worry, clean girls, there’s still room for you in this trend. “If you’re going for a minimalist look, I think nails should be perfectly prepped and trimmed,” Novakovic advises, adding that you can use a clear polish, something translucent, or another color of your choice.
