Rihanna Has a Very Rihanna Take on 2016 Fashion

What are you wearing in 2016? Skinny jeans, bomber jacket, lace slip, backless loafers? Rihanna was the driving force behind many Forever 21 campaigns: this year be opposed toRih established a strong sense of style, leaning into the era’s most memorable aesthetics. Typically, you’ll see her wearing oversized hoodies, embellished denim, tracksuits, and edgy tailoring. Last night in New York City, Rihanna once again embraced 2016 style with her own modern twist.

The pop star and beauty mogul stepped out on the night of her partner A$AP Rocky’s album release, and her outfit reflected both the 10-something temperatures and the chilly temperatures. Rih chose an oversized charcoal wool blazer with strong lapels over another navy blazer, as well as a blue and Vaquera collared shirt. The lower body is paired with Balenciaga knife pants and pointed white high heels, paired with a black leather clutch, a layered Bryony Raymond diamond and God necklace, and black aviator style sunglasses. From sunglasses to leggings, to cubicle to club vibes, nostalgia for a bygone fashion era hits home hard.

Who doesn’t love pairing a silk dress with a more masculine jacket in 2016? Also last week, Rih carried a Jeremy Scott Longchamps Le Pliage bag, embellished with a tightly tailored Madballs monstrosity—a rare but unforgettable accessory from the same decade.

New York, NY Rihanna turned heads when she came out to support her boyfriend ASAP Rocky at his new album launch party.
