Photography as visual activism brings together Zanele Muholi, Alessia Glaviano and Francesca De Medici to reflect on photography as a tool of visibility, resistance and care. Centered on Muholi’s lifelong commitment to self-representation and community building, the conversation explores how images challenge dominant narratives, affirm marginalized identities, and act as political and moral responsibilities. The group moved between artistic practice, editorial background and lived experience to consider what it means to make images that not only represent the world but actively intervene in it.

About Francesca de Medici
Francesca de’ Medici is a collector and independent curator. Since 2021, she has been collaborating with South African visual activist and photographer Zanele Muholi to curate and promote exhibitions and projects. Francesca’s latest project is a collaboration with Sabelo Mlangeni, for whom she curated an exhibition at the ADA in Rome. She lives in Rome with her partner and four children.
