The discussions took place against the backdrop of rising tensions in parts of West Asia, including concerns about attacks on civilian infrastructure and the risk of further escalation. Modi reiterated India’s firm stance, saying the country “strongly condemns all attacks on the UAE causing loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure”, reinforcing New Delhi’s consistent stance against terrorism and violence.
A key point in the dialogue was the importance of ensuring uninterrupted maritime trade, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor. “We all agree on the importance of ensuring safe and free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” Modi said, highlighting shared concerns about global energy security and supply chain resilience.
India continues to view stability in the Gulf as a strategic priority, given its dependence on energy imports and the presence of a large Indian diaspora. The UAE remains one of India’s most important partners, with close cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, defense and technology.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work closely together to address regional challenges. “We will continue to work together to promote the early restoration of peace, security and stability in the region,” Modi said.
India-UAE relations have grown significantly over the past decade, driven by agreements such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed in 2022 and regular high-level contacts. Tuesday’s exchange once again highlighted the two countries’ shared determination to promote peace, safeguard key sea lanes and contribute to stability in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment.
