PInvestigators Say Stolen Louvre Jewels Were Hidden in Parking Lot

Three months later, $102 million worth of jewelry was brazenly stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris and remains missing. Although Paris police arrested at least eight people believed to be involved in the Oct. 19 robbery, investigators have made little progress in recovering the stolen goods. Recently, however, officers from the Paris Anti-Gang Brigade (BRB) determined the last known location of the jewels.

It is reported parisianThe BRB later traced the stolen items to an underground car park in the Paris suburb of Aubervilliers, where the four suspects lived. About an hour after the robbery, investigators tracked the two scooters used in the getaway to the garage. CCTV footage shows the two suspects getting off the motorcycle and passing the stolen jewelery back and forth. Police believe the people captured on camera are Abdoulaye N. and Slimane K.

Abdoulaye N., a 39-year-old former security guard known as Doudou Cross Bitume on social media, reportedly frequently posts videos of stunts on motorcycles, including a Yamaha TMax believed to be used in the Louvre escape. His DNA was reportedly found on display cases and other discarded items at the scene, including gloves, a high-visibility vest and a disc cutter. There is little public information about Slimane K.

Less than an hour after the two arrived at the garage, a van showed up carrying two other suspects. One of the men, Rachid H., is believed to have rented three parking spaces in the garage in his mother’s name, which investigators say were used to hide the getaway vehicle. A few days later, Rashid and Slimane were again seen at the garage, leaving in a white van. It was unclear whether the suspect removed the stolen jewelry at that time or if it had already been moved.

Investigators determined that the suspect returned to the garage multiple times between Oct. 23 and Oct. 30. However, when authorities discovered the hideout, the getaway vehicle and jewelry were missing. Like missing treasures, these vehicles have yet to be recovered.
