Philippine President Marcos talks about the current situation of the country: We are quite stable amidst the political turmoil

December 17, 2024

Manila – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday that the country’s current situation remains “stable” even amid what he called “political noise.”

Marcos made the statement when asked about his current assessment of the state of the country as the end of 2024 approaches.

“Oh, we are stable. I mean, the government is functioning normally. There is a lot of noise, but that's about it. It's just noise,” Marcos told reporters in Malacañang.

Marcos did not specify what the “noise” he was referring to was, but it was only last month that the rift between him and Vice President Sara Duterte got worse – especially after the latter revealed Targeting Duterte's wife Lisa and cousin Speaker Martin Romualz if he himself dies following his killing plot.

Duterte's comments come amid what she claims is a political attack on her by the government and its allies.

On November 29, Marcos also warned government troops in the South Luzon Command not to be fooled by “political noise.”

While he also did not specify what he was referring to, the statement came after former President Rodrigo Duterte accused Marcos of running “broken governance” and even called on the military to “correct it.”
