Her new movie just had its world premiere Wuthering HeightsMargot Robbie with British Chloe Seth and Radhika Seth Fashion’s film and culture editor, discusses the spectacular look she came up with for her press conference with stylist Andrew Mukamel.
“Andrew – he was a history major, so he really did his research,” Margot explains, referring to the Taj Mahal diamond necklace she was wearing at the time, which once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor – a fitting reference to the film’s romantic and gothic themes.
Robbie, who plays Cathy Earnshaw, is not only starring in the highly anticipated romantic drama over Valentine’s Day weekend with Jacob Elordi (who plays the divisive Heathcliff), but is also serving as a producer, her third collaboration with director Emerald Fennell. Reflecting on the film’s ambitious scale, Margot praised Fennell’s ingenuity: “What she did with the budget she had – I couldn’t help but be in awe as a producer. I kept thinking, there’s no way she could have done this with the resources we had.” She pointed to Suzie Davies’ visually stunning set design and pop icon Charli XCX’s catchy score as standout examples of the all-star team Fennell assembled.
Then, later in the episode, iconic costume designer Jacqueline Durran got on the phone to reveal how she created over 50 looks for Cathy and why she and Margot ultimately decided not to take any of them off the set. Listen to the two conversations above.
