NSW completes $297m rural health overhaul

The first phase of the Blayney project adds residential aged care and health services.

The Blayney Multi-Purpose Services (MPS) redevelopment project has completed the first phase, adding new aged care and healthcare services to Blayney and the surrounding area.

Phase one features a new residential aged care wing with single rooms and private bathrooms, additional inpatient ward beds and space for future expansion.

The project is the final project in the NSW Government’s US$198.49 million (A$297 million) multi-purpose services package to improve health care in rural and remote communities.

Local staff, aged care residents and families provide feedback during the planning and design stages to ensure the facility meets community needs. Construction is being carried out in phases to keep existing services running.

The next phase, expected to be completed in 2027, will see the existing buildings demolished to make way for the new HealthOne facility, entrance area, reception, waiting room, staff areas and ambulatory care areas.

The Blayney MPS redevelopment project is managed by Health Infrastructure and Western NSW Local Health District in partnership with Taylor Construction Group.

The Blayney community can tour the new facility on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 4-6pm, where the project team and medical staff will be available to answer questions.
