Nicole Kidman Is My Single-Girl Inspiration Right Now

If you’re one of the many couples who posted on Instagram on February 14 this year, they shared an adorable kiss on the cheek on Storm King (Vomit), you may already be missing Valentine’s Day. However, as a recently single person, I’m more than happy to give up on romance. Sorry to be a Valentine’s Day Grinch, but let’s be honest, if you’re in love, you can’t… enjoy that? Do you really need a whole day to commemorate on social media?

Admittedly, I haven’t felt that way the past four Valentine’s Days. Then I took it upon myself to find a partner and post some cryptic but charming little caption next to a pseudo-random photo dump. But now I (Voiced by Greta Garbo) Alone, I’ve officially designated myself to hate all things pink and heart-shaped, and will probably stay that way until I get into another relationship. In the meantime, I had a great single style icon to emulate: Ms. Nicole Kidman, whose divorce from Keith Urban is now finalized and who is said to be the attraction of millionaire Paul Salem.

Of course, I want millionaires of any gender to fall deeply in love with me. (In fact, if any of them happen to be reading this: My email is easily found online! Pick me, choose me, love me, in the immortal words of Meredith Grey!) But seeing Kidman strutting her stuff around the world (Paris! Chile! Antarctica!!) and allegedly flexing Salem while vying for her hand, I was really inspired. Maybe Kidman’s first taste of single life in 20 years has convinced her of Whoopi Goldberg’s mantra “I don’t want anyone in my house,” or maybe her rich days are over and she’s more interested in attracting, or being attracted to, hungry artists. Regardless, we’re glad to see a single woman in her 50s taking or leaving the MGM Resorts fortune.

When I was googling “Nicole Kidman single quotes” (what can I say, I’m lacking inspiration!), I found this gem she shared charm In 2008, two years after she married Urban: “Have no regrets. Every relationship will take you to where you’re meant to be. Learn to be comfortable with being alone.” Indeed, this is good advice whether you’re a 30-something blogger or a world-famous actress. I guess one could say…does it feel good to have your heart broken in a place like this?
