Newly Document Shows Jeffrey Epstein Donated $5,000 to the Met

The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday publicly released more than 3 million documents related to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The documents included a copy of a $5,000 donation check from Enhanced Education dated April 29, 2014. Enhanced Education is a long-running foundation set up by Epstein and has been described as a “philanthropic giant.” new york times. The recipient of the donation was none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the money was earmarked for Costume Institute Benefit, also known as the Met Gala.

The documents released Friday are the second tranche released under the Epstein Documents Transparency Act, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump in November.

Although Epstein was known to have come from elite circles in the arts, politics and entertainment world and was a frequent attendee at the gala, he was never reported to be an attendee or donor to the event.

Epstein was a prolific donor to numerous politicians, organizations and universities, and has received special attention in recent years for his donations of $9.1 million to Harvard University and $850,000 to MIT.

Epstein also served on the board of directors of the New York Academy of Art from 1987 to 1994.
