Phnom Penh – Representatives of several Austrian companies plan to visit Cambodia in the near future to explore investment opportunities, while the newly appointed Austrian ambassador promises to further strengthen bilateral relations.
On the morning of March 4, Ambassador Katarina Wiesel presented her credentials to Acting Head of State and Senate President Hun Sen.
Senate spokesman Tse Tillis said Hun Sen welcomed the ambassador’s arrival and expressed the hope that her diplomatic mission would further strengthen relations between the two countries.
Wieser promised to work hard to cultivate and promote relations between Cambodia and Austria, noting that since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1956, bilateral relations will soon celebrate their 70th anniversary.
“Ambassador Wieser will work to further promote trade and investment between Cambodia and Austria. She announced that representatives of about ten Austrian companies will visit Cambodia to explore investment opportunities,” Tillis said.
Hun Sen welcomed the upcoming visit of the Austrian business delegation. He is optimistic that through these investors and the commitment of the new ambassador, political relations, trade volumes, economic cooperation and bilateral investment will continue to flourish.
According to Thiris, Hun Sen also took the opportunity to explain the history of the current Cambodia-Thailand border dispute. He said that currently, the two countries are making every effort to effectively maintain the ceasefire, ensure border stability, and resolve issues through legal frameworks and mutual negotiations.
